If you’ve already researched Human Design and discovered your type is a generator, you know that success and satisfaction in the generator’s business are not just about hard work and dedication. It’s about understanding yourself and your unique energy and leveraging that energy to attract the right opportunities to respond to.
But with so much generic business advice out there, it can be challenging to know how to apply your human design strategy to your business. That’s where this mini-guide comes in.
Okay, I’m a generator… What now?
As a Human Design Generator, you know that you’re designed to be a powerhouse of energy and aligned action. But when it comes to running a business, you might find yourself struggling to reconcile your natural tendency to respond to the demands of marketing, sales, and growth. If you’ve been wondering how to apply your Human Design chart to your business, you’re not alone. Many Generators face the same questions and uncertainties.
Questions like:
How am I meant to grow my business generator style?
Does ‘waiting to respond’ mean I have to sit back and not actually sell?
What does responding even mean in the context of business?
Am I just meant to be a ‘workhorse’ and please everyone?
In this article, I will show you how to harness your Generator energy and run your business in a way that’s aligned with your soul’s purpose. You’ll learn the importance of waiting to respond, how to make decisions that honor your design, and how to create a business that truly satisfies you. If you’re ready to take your business to the next level and achieve success on your terms, then let’s dive in.
✨ Embody your human design
Embodying your human design is a powerful way to unlock your potential and live a more authentic and fulfilling life. Human design is a system that helps us understand our unique energetic makeup, and how we can use this knowledge to live our best lives. At its core, human design is based on a few ancient wisdoms including the ancient Chinese I Ching system, which consists of 64 hexagrams. By understanding our unique design, we can learn to live in alignment with our true selves and tap into our potential.
When we embody our human design, we can gain a greater understanding of ourselves and how we interact with the world around us.
We can learn to recognize our strengths, as well as our shadows, and use this knowledge to create positive change in our lives and that of our clients. This can help us to make more informed decisions that are in alignment with our true desires and values.
We can also use our human design to gain insight into our relationships with others. By understanding our energetic makeup, we can better understand the energetic makeup of those we work with. It helps us to create healthier, more fulfilling working relationships with our clients.
There is a big difference between learning about your design and truly embodying it and aligning your business with it. My aim is to always help you embody your design.
I’m not initiating, but what is ‘waiting to respond’ in business?
In traditional business settings, entrepreneurs are often expected to be assertive and proactive in promoting their products and services. This could involve cold calling, direct pitching, or using other pushy tactics to make sales.
However, as a generator in Human Design, these methods may not align with your natural energy and can lead to burnout and disappointment. Your strategy is to wait to respond to opportunities that come your way, rather than trying to initiate them yourself like a Manifestor.
By staying open and receptive to what the universe brings you, you can tap into your innate magnetism and attract the right clients and customers. When you do receive an invitation to engage, your sacral energy will guide you with a (clear) “yes” or “no” response.
So, the process of learning to trust in your ability to respond and allow your energy to draw in what you need to thrive in your business is key!
✨Passion > Profit: discover your rhythm
Generators often feel overwhelmed by the pressure to achieve success and become discouraged when things don’t go according to plan. You can become anxious and fearful of failure, and this can lead to a feeling of stagnation and an inability to move forward.
However, it is important to remember that failure is not the end of the road. Instead, it is an opportunity to learn and grow. It is an opportunity to trust yourself and take risks, knowing that you may not always succeed but that you can still learn and grow from your experiences.
You and your business grow when you fully show up and embody your passion for the craft you are here to master.
When it comes to finding that passion and understanding your rhythm, it is important to take the time to nourish and nurture ourselves. Take time to rest and recharge, engage in activities that bring you joy, and connect with your inner wisdom and intuition.
Ask yourself the following question:
“What gives me energy? What lights me up like a Christmas tree?”
It is important to remember that finding your passion and rhythm is an ongoing process. You may find yourself going through periods of ebbs and flows, but it is important to stay focused on your vision. A generator plateau is normal to happen to anyone, even if you are super aligned with your business. It is not something to run away from but embrace the situation for its lessons.
✨Share your story to make an impact
Sharing your story is an important part of this process. When we are open and honest about our experiences, we can provide a safe space for others to do the same. By being vulnerable and sharing our stories, we can create an impact that reaches far beyond ourselves.
Sharing your story can have a powerful and lasting impact. This makes you magnetic to clients who feel seen and supported by you.
✨Co-create with your audience
Co-creating with your audience is an essential part of developing a sustainable business for a generator. A generator can use her/his/their environment to inform the decisions and to validate ideas. When you have an idea, share it with your environment.
For example, when Kehla was thinking about hypnosis and gene keys, one of her friends expressed interest in learning about the topics.
Kehla realized that this was the perfect opportunity to co-create a course with her audience and share more about it. (listen to a podcast interview with this generator here)
By co-creating with your audience, you understand what they are looking for and how you can serve them best. Do this by sharing your ideas in Instagram stories, posts, and emails. Additionally, Do some market research and have conversations with fellow entrepreneurs and clients. This will help you to suss out how people are seeing the vision for a new product/service and to make sure that your offerings are accessible and inclusive.
✨Trust the process of slowing down
As a generator, you are here to master something. Becoming a master takes time and this isn’t done by rushing and skipping steps. (this is different if you are a manifesting generator). When it comes to trusting the process of slowing down, it is important to remember that it takes time to decondition and trust your sacral expression. Be patient and trust the timing of your journey.
It is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and think that you need to be doing something at all times.
This can lead to feelings of stress and overwhelm. We can forget that it is okay to take a step back, slow down, and trust the process. When we slow down and trust the process, we can be more mindful of our decisions and intentions. We can be more in tune with our intuition and feelings.
This business of yours is a lifetime journey, not a rat race. There is no finish line.
✨Sign you and your business might be out of alignment
Are you feeling exhausted and overwhelmed in your business? As a Generator, it’s important to be in alignment with your design to avoid energetic burnout. If you’re not feeling passionate and lit up about what you’re sharing or how you’re interacting with your audience, you may feel depleted and frustrated.
